I wear alot of khakis.
I started out just wearing them for work, and eventually it just got to the point where they became my casual wear too. I wear jeans too, but the times I wear them are few and far between when compared to the times I just wear khakis.
With that said, I’ve been wearing 38w khaki pants since I started this journey at 265 pounds. I’m down 34.2 pounds, and I’ve still been wearing 38w’s.
I need new pants.
The 38w’s have become super baggy and loose, which is awesome, but I fear that at any moment they could fall down. If I have anything in my pockets, then the chances of them falling down increase. Like I said, it’s awesome, but I’m at work, so it’s probably not appropriate. I could wear a belt, but I’m usually absentminded enough in the mornings to forget to put one on, and super baggy pants still don’t look very professional. I’m not exactly working at a Fortune 500 company, but come on now…
I have a shit load of clothes though, mostly shirts, but plenty of pants as well. I have an entire closet full of stuff that was too small for me, but I am now slowly starting to fit into. Surely I have smaller pants, right?
I do. I have 34w’s. I can wear them, but only if I don’t breathe, or try to sit down. So I should be able to fit well into 36w’s…but I apparently don’t have any…?
Did I skip over buying 36w’s completely? Did I lose them in a move? I don’t specifically remember having any, but come on, I had to have had them. Right?
Ugh…I have no pants…

Dude I say as long as you’re wearing drawers it’s NBD.

I totally know what a great feeling it is to have clothes be too big! I just spent 2 hours clearing out my wardrobe today – getting rid of all the size L/XL and (UK size) 16/18 items. Some of the slightly too big stuff I have left – it’s still kinda wearable with a belt – so am gonna wear those till spring arrives and then invest in a 100% new wardrobe for spring! Yay!!
You’re doing great – keep up the good work! And happy pant-shopping
Pants on the ground!
Pants on the ground!
Lookin’ like a FOOL with your pants on the ground…
Sorry, couldn’t resist!
Clothes for our in between bodies can be tricky to find sometimes. Hit up Goodwill and find a decent pair of 36’s – before you know it, you’ll be in your 34’s and you can donate the 36’s back to GW…and you help people with disabilities and other employment barriers while you’re at it…
Doesn’t it feel good to slim outta your fat clothes?
Well, it’s definitely a good problem to have. I mostly wear jeans myself, but also with a 38 waist. Lately they’ve been getting pretty baggy on me too, and last night I realized I could take them off without unbuttoning them. Looks like I’ll either be using a belt or buying new pants soon too.

Dude…use it as an excuse to go shopping! Oh, wait…do guys do that, too? Seriously, though, what a great problem to have. Hit up Ross or one of the other discount stores to grab a couple pairs. That way you won’t spend too much but you won’t look like you took a dump in your drawers with those baggy, saggy 38s on. Congrats on being down a size!
Save your big pants though! When you are at goal you can do the obligatory wearing the old clothes shot!

That is great, I have so much weight to loss that right now I only shop at cheaper stores like Walmart n Target except last night I went to Nordstroms for some dress shopping, I have a black tie event to attend this upcoming March (wish they would have pushed back the date so I could shed some more of me) So I am going to this Gala to raise awareness and money for Williams Syndrome, haven’t been out since 2006 (too much info). So digressing here, this past June I was a size 26 and the dresses I tried on last night size 20 and one 22! Very exciting stuff. We have a pretty good thrift store called the Arc which the profits are for special needs, we donate all our stuff and I have found some good stuff for us as well. Happy Pants Hunting!
Bwa-ha-ha-ha! Oh wait…that’s me! Uh.
Go to Goodwill. Until the happy 34W’s fit. Unless that is going to look to unprofessional.
When I lost weight, I bought clothes off ebay, and sold my too-big clothes there too. In the end, I think I broke even. It’s a fairly cheap way to go. While you can’t try things on, you can always re-sell them at the same cost and put in the description of how they fit. I bought several shorts and sweaters off ebay too.
I agree – what a cool problem to have! Congrats on the loss. It’s a hard call though, on one hand you don’t want to waste money on sizes you’ll probably skip or not be in for long. I like the ebay idea.

Ugggggggh I hate having to get pants that fit due to weight loss!! lol. My husband thinks I’m the only one in the world who feels this way, but pants are expensive!!
But way to go on the weightloss so far! I think since you’re still in the weight loss process you should probably try some thrift shops for new pants, that way you’re not losing your pants again in a month.
You’ve reminded me I need to put the clothes in my closet in order by size. I have a bunch of different sizes, and I think I’ve skipped some, too.
I took my dress pants to the tailor, but that only goes so far. They can’t take any more out of the “seat”, because the pockets are in the way. I think Goodwill is a good way to go to bridge the gap between your 38w and 34w khakis.
