It’s that time again, time for another Weekend Warriors Challenge!

Oh wait, there isn’t actually another challenge this weekend? D’oh!

NO BOTHER! Craig over at My Life, Take Eight was a bit bummed about not doing well on Brandon’s last Weekend Warriors Challenge, so he is doing it again this weekend.  In a show of support, Erin and I (and maybe a few more?) have decided to do it again with him!  And honestly, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to do it again anyway, because weekends are still very troublesome to me.  This way I will have something to work towards. :)

So here are my goals for this weekends challenge:

  • Run/Walk/Jog 20 miles. I didn’t quite make this goal last weekend, but I came close. I’m a bit worried, only because both my run yesterday and my second run Wednesday (caution: both links contain whining) were less than spectacular, but I plan to rest today and get back into it full force tomorrow. WooT!
  • One round of Yoga.  I’ve only been Yoga once before on this journey, and that’s when I was trapped in my apartment due to Snowmageddon.  It wouldn’t hurt to mix up exercise routines a bit, so I’ll go for another round this weekend.  I’ll be using the same YRG (Yoga for Regular Guys) DVD that I used before.
  • Average 1800 calories a day.  Something I should be doing anyway, but my calorie tracking has wavered a bit (ie, has stopped completely). I am going grocery shopping tonight, so I will have no excuse to NOT eat home cooked meals, where I can keep better track of the calories too.  So WooT to that.

What about you?  Any plans for the weekend?  Care to partake in another round of Weekend Warrior with us?

Gotta thank Brandon of So Long, Fat Ass for creating this challenge, thus giving me motivation to kick ass 7 days a week. WooT!

20 miles are you crazy? :)

Mt trainer wants me to take yoga as well. I’m sure it’ll be fun and worth it but I fear the unknown. :)

I’ll probably workout with a buddy of mine Friday and Saturday.

  2. David says:

20 miles wow. I bike that to and from work but doing it on foot is another story altogether. That would take at least six hours I think… Good luck!

I’m taking a break from this challenge since I’ve got my race to do but I’m cheering you guys on! And, you’re way too hard on yourself for those runs. Those times are FANTASTIC considering how you did them back to back. Rest up, man. Give yourself a non-run day. Yoga sounds fantastic. I really should pick it up, but it’s at 8am. Tooooo earlyyyyy :(

My weekend plans include make something awesome with Pom, make miso soup, rest my legs, run a race, enjoy the post-race events, and hopefully finish the race in under 35 minutes!

  6. Steve.
You make me want to be a better blogger. A better fitness guru. (because I’m not even mildly one) A better support to others we know.

You are the epitome of tobasco sauce.

  7. Not sure if a weekend warrior would apply, I will be continuing my challenges I began this past week…rock on

  8. Lauren says:

  12. Alissa says:

I’m joining you on this one. I didn’t do the challenge last weekend for various reasons, so this weekend is a great time for me to get in the action. Thanks :)

  13. Sean says:

Funny thing is I’m doing it again this weekend, I almost have the posting done. I failed pretty bad last weekend as well. I should have it up shortly … good luck this weekend, we’ll need it.

  14. David H. says:

One way to approach the 20 miles is to do something Saturday morning and then give yourself a 36-hour (ish) break and do something Sunday evenings. It’s how I often spread out runs on the weekend.

  15. David H. says:

And, dammit, CommentLuv didn’t work on my first post, but worked after I refreshed it, only to pull yesterday’s post. Not sure if I’m going to keep it or not.

  16. YRG was not that impressive to me, I love the yoga, especially as a way to destress and stretch, I am no expert but if you can reduce stress and prevent injury it is a major plus to any working out man

  17. Marissa says:

I am in!! I am doing my post shortly. I need to keep the ball rolling I was feeling a little defeated at the beginning of the week, getting the goose egg at weigh in and then stressers at home.

I HATE yoga… or at least what I have tried. I will likely try again, I am just not sure it’s for me.

  18. Erin says:

My son and I are taking our first trip to the zoo (we usually LIVE there during the summer since I have a pass thru work) this weekend, so I will be walking alot. I’m going to set a walking goal! I love yoga, and my hips and quads are really tight, so I need to get some done this weekend!!! I’m glad we’re in this together, buddy!!!

  19. Craig says:

Thank you so much for the support! After last weekend’s screw up, gonna do the damn thang and do it RIGHT this time around! Good luck on all your goals :)

I’m totally in for this!!! yeah! This is what I’m going to do this weekend:

    1. Do my third C25K workout tonight or on Saturday. I am going to follow it with 30 minutes of biking and 15 minutes of upper body work.
    2. I am going 100% water only for drinks from the time that I write this post to Sunday at midnight (excluding my daily pre-workout protein shake). I’ve been drinking too much coffee as of late.
    3. I am going to take my daughter on another late night walk like I did last week.
