Posting a little later than usual. I doubt I screwed up anyone’s reading schedules (although I do go well with the morning crap, I think ), but I apologize if I did. I delayed posting by a few hours only because I didn’t want to jinx myself in regards to one particular goal…

HUNDRED PUSHUPS / TWO HUNDRED SITUPS / TWO HUNDRED SQUATS

…and this was that goal. I actually completed it (this time!). WooT!

I totally completed Week 1 of The One Hundred Pushups Challenge, Week 1 of The Two Hundred Situps Challenge, and Week 3 of The Two Hundred Squats Challenge. I was in Week 3 of 200squats because my initial test placed me there, so WooT to lower body strength.

For those of you who paid attention, this was my second attempt this month, so I started at the beginning. The Pushups were alot easier this time around, which kind of rocks. Day 3 of the squats was a bitch, so I considering repeating the week, but the man behind the challenges, Steve Speirs, said I should be okay to move on to Week 4. Since he created them, I guess he’d know best, eh?

I’m still trying to think of a good way to log these challenges for the updates post. Since the 5th rep for each day is supposed to be a max rep, maybe just post that number, I don’t know. Ugh. I’m open to suggestions though, it just seems weird to merely sum it up in paragraph form.

.

PERFECT 10 CHALLENGE

And here is my Perfect 10 update for the week.

Lose at least 15 pounds (starting weight 245 pounds)–OHMYGODIMALMOSTTHERE!!!!! With this weeks weigh in I’m only .8 pounds away from this goal. YAY!

Run/walk/jog 200 miles–139.76 miles…which means…61.75 miles to go…in 2 weeks? Shit.

Strength train at least twice a week–SUCCESS…finally! Completed my full week of 100pushups/200squats/200situps, so I’m counting that. Because I can. WooT.

Run a 5k road race–Been done.

Finish at least one of this semesters college courses–Put in for a testing time, so we’ll see…

Beat Super Mario Brothers Wii–Haven’t played all week, but thats okay because I.AM.DONE.

Steve is also asking we post something that noone knows about us, so here goes: My very first job was playing the mall Easter Bunny. My mom’s friend was in charge of the display for Exton Square Mall outside of Philadelphia and I was conned into spending a couple weekends up there and playing the part. I won’t lie…it SUCKED, but I paid well for a 15 year old ($8 bucks an hour…YES!). The first year (yes, I did this for several years after) was the easiest though, because the mall was undergoing renovations so we were in a storefront, as opposed to the following years, when I was in a major walkway, under HUGE skylights. The obnoxious kids were tolerable to an extent, but in the hot suit, under a frickin’ SKYLIGHT was torture. I did it though, but apparently I wasn’t the best bunny. The only suit they had had an apron, which means I was supposedly a girl bunny, but I kept sitting on the chair slouched down with my legs open. Skanky bunny

HABIT.A.WEEK CHALLENGE

Lyn from Escape from Obesity is hosting a Habit.A.Week Challenge. The goal is easy enough, to make a small change each work in order to live a healthier lifestyle. The “habit” this week is Self Love.

I’m working on this, but it’s getting easier. I’m looking at myself in the mirror in the mornings and I’m actually kind of seeing a difference in the way I look. I like it. I don’t want to go into more depth only because I was actually going to devote a blog post to this idea next week (assuming I have another good weigh in to keep the mojo going). Lyn keeps beating me to the punch with this stuff!!!

And I do believe that is all I have today. Nothing too exciting going down this weekend, for me anyway. How are you all doing with your goals?

Have a great day. TGIF!

Btw…I had mistakenly labeled last weeks challenge update as #8, when it was actually #7. I’m a dumbass when it comes to numbering things, but none of you caught it (or at least didn’t say anything) either, so HA!!!

Another day, another dollar (WooT PAYDAY!!!), another Challenges Update…

HUNDRED PUSHUPS / TWO HUNDRED SITUPS / TWO HUNDRED SQUATS

Abort, Retry, FAIL!

I never got to Week 2, mainly because I never finished Week 1. Last week into early this week was a bonafide UGH, and once I started getting back on track it seemed really too late to try to get a full week in (and I’d rather do this by calender weeks to keep track of it easier).

No matter, I’m restarting next week, and I WILL FINISH.

.

PERFECT 10 CHALLENGE

And here is my Perfect 10 update for the week. Oy, coming down to the wire with this one…

Lose at least 15 pounds (starting weight 245 pounds)–Officially, I am now only down 7.6 pounds, which means I backtracked and am now about halfway through this goal. Unoffically, early weigh ins show the calorie counting is working (WooT) and I should have made some headway by next weigh in. Don’t want get TOO confident about it though, yet.

Run/walk/jog 200 miles–I am 130.34 miles down. So I have…3 weeks (?) to complete about 70 miles. Haha..no pressure

Strength train at least twice a week–FAIL! With the Pushups/Situps/Squats having been sidelined, I hadn’t made an effort to get any strength training in otherwise…so yeah…

Run a 5k road race–Done, WooT!

Finish at least one of this semesters college courses–I’ll be testing in a couple weeks, so we’ll see.

Beat Super Mario Brothers Wii–Done, WooT! Still trying to get all the extras though.

Steve is also asking we post something that noone knows about us, so here goes: I didn’t get my drivers license until I was 20. At first I really wanted it ASAP, I even got my learners permit at 15. But eventually I just got used to walking or getting rides, and at that time if I wanted drivers ed classes I’d have to pay for them myself (300ish dollars, ugh). I finally took drivers ed at 18, but failed the driving test first time around, and got used to walking (or getting rides) again. Finally, my supervisor let me practice in his truck, and I tried again, two years later, and passed. I bought my first car a month later (2004 Scion xA), and wrecked it a month and day after that. WooT (that was a sarcastic one…)

HABIT.A.WEEK CHALLENGE

Lyn from Escape from Obesity is hosting a Habit.A.Week Challenge. The goal is easy enough, to make a small change each work in order to live a healthier lifestyle. The “habit” this week is to PORTION CONTROL!!!

As I said before, I started calorie counting this week, which is about as portion controlled as you can get I’m sticking with it so far, as well as sticking with my Blacklist, so I think I’ll wait until my next weigh in to see how well I’m doing with this goal…

.

IN OTHER NEWS…

I got my glasses! How do I look? The frames cost almost 300 dollars (Armani Exchange, STYLIN’) so hopefully I don’t look like a total doofus. I need another haircut though. Ugh.

AND, AND…

I’m trying my hand at Curling this weekend. The Potomac Curling Club is having an open house for people to come in and try things out, so my friend signed us up. We’ll see how well I do…

What are YOUR weekend plans? Hope you all have a good one!!

TGIF…finally. The week of Blizzard 2010 has been dragging…

…but without further ado, here is my weekly Challenge Update.

HUNDRED PUSHUPS / TWO HUNDRED SITUPS / TWO HUNDRED SQUATS

I kind of did something stupid. In checking out each challenge, I didn’t really do as much research as I should, particular in regards to what is considered “good form” for each of these challenges. I’ve been doing the situps and the squats correctly, but apparently the “perfect form” situps are more of a crunch then they are an actual sit up. With that said, I will be completed Week 1 Day 3 for the Pushups, and Week 3 Day 3 (starting at Week 3 instead of Week 1 based upon my initial test results). for the Squats, but I will be redoing the initial test for the Situps and restarting on Monday. I want to thank Kat for bringing this to my attention

For the purpose of recording here, I will go ahead and post the results of my 5th set for each day, where you try to do as many as you can. Also, since I post in the morning and don’t usually do these workouts until the afternoon, I may have to update later.

One Hundred Pushups Week 1: Day 1 Max: 7 // Day 2 Max: 10 // Day 3 Max: TBA

Two Hundred Situps Week 1: Day 1 Max: 10 // Day 2 Max: 13 // Day 3 Max: TBA (will be redoing initial test for this challenge)

Two Hundred Squats Week 3: Day 1 Max: 30 // Day 2 Max: 40 // Day 3 Max: TBA

PERFECT 10 CHALLENGE

And here is my Perfect 10 update for the week:

Lose at least 15 pounds (starting weight 245 pounds)–10.6 pounds down, 3.4 more pounds to go. I didn’t lose any weight this past week but I still believe that I am on track to meet this goal.

Run/walk/jog 200 miles–I am 123.55 miles into this challenge. I’m falling behind a bit, but I’m not freaking out yet.

Strength train at least twice a week–I consider the Pushups/Situps/Squats Challenge to be strength training, and I will be doing my third day for the week today. I haven’t done any other strength training.

Run a 5k road race–This goal is done. The next race is a 10 miler at the end of February. I don’t know if I’m ready to take this race on, but I would like to try.

Finish at least one of this semesters college courses–Still working at it. I will probably be scheduling the final for one of my courses soon though.

Beat Super Mario Brothers Wii–DONE!!!!! SUCCESS!!! WooT!!! I am now just trying to unlock all of the secret stuff, including World 9.

Steve is also asking we post something that noone knows about us, so here goes: I was once dared to, and ate, a lemon wedge. Big deal, right? Well, this was not just any lemon wedge, mind you, this lemon wedge was covered in sugar, sweet-n-low, salt, and pepper, then dipped in a mixture of soda, honey mustard, ketchup and barbecue sauce. This event took place at Denny’s after High School Graduation rehearsal. I still do stupid sh*t like that from time to time

HABIT.A.WEEK CHALLENGE

Lyn from Escape from Obesity is hosting a Habit.A.Week Challenge. The goal is easy enough, to make a small change each work in order to live a healthier lifestyle. The “habit” this week was to start eating more healthy fat, as in use less vegetable and corn oil, and more canola or olive oil.

The only oil I use when cooking is Olive Oil, mainly because that’s all we have, but still. Even then, I try to avoid using oil as much as possible and use alot of cooking sprays. My problem is that there hasn’t been much of ANY cooking going on recently.

.

How are YOU doing with your goals?

Have a good weekend

This week was only inital tests for the each of the challenges, which are used to determine what level you should be starting out at. Here are the results for each:

One Hundred Pushups Initial Test: 9

Two Hundred Situps Initial Test: 17

Two Hundred Squats Initial Test: 72

Basically, I suck BUT, thats okay, because the point of these challenges is to make myself stronger and better. The one that scared me the most (and I bombed the worst at) was the one hundred pushups test, because I don’t have much upper body strength whatsoever. That one that SURPRISED me the most was the situps, I guess I just got used to doing crunches, so I wasn’t expecting the pain in my tailbone. Ugh. But it’s only the beginning, so lets see how this goes!

PERFECT 10 CHALLENGE

And here is my Perfect 10 update for the week:

Lose at least 15 pounds (starting weight 245 pounds)–10.6 pounds down, 3.4 more pounds to go. This was a very exciting week to weigh in as it saw me hit the 30lb mark. If I keep up this pace I might even SURPASS the 15 pound goal. WooT!

Run/walk/jog 200 miles–107.55 miles down. I completed the 100 mile running challenge last weekend, but haven’t really done alot since. I’m supposed to have a 4 mile race this weekend, but the fate of that is dependent upon the weather, I guess. Ugh.

Strength train at least twice a week–Surprisingly, I’ve actually been doing very good with this! I did some form of strength training on Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Run a 5k road race–No change here, 5k is done, still getting ready for The Bear Run 4-Miler. Hopefully it still happens, but I don’t know because of the weather.

Finish at least one of this semesters college courses–Working on it, still…

Beat Super Mario Brothers Wii–I am in World 8, so its close. .

Steve is also asking we post something that noone knows about us, so here goes: I’d like to think there are alot of things that I’m not afraid of, but I do have two major fears. Death is one, which is pretty understandable and in many ways self-explanatory, I think. The other is cockroaches. Those little f*ckers freak the hell out of me. My dads house was infested with them for a point in time, and I hated when I had to stay over there. If I was sleeping on the couch and I felt ANYTHING touch me, brush me, whatever…I’d jump up and be a wreck for the rest of the night.

HABIT.A.WEEK CHALLENGE

Lyn from Escape from Obesity is hosting a Habit.A.Week Challenge. The goal is easy enough, to make a small change each work in order to live a healthier lifestyle. The “habit” this week was to slow down your eating.

It takes about 20 minutes for your brain to register itself as being full. If you are like me, you can do A LOT of damage in 20 minutes. By slowing down your eating, not only do you actually get to enjoy what you are eating, but you give your body and mind time to register that you’ve eaten it, so hopefully you’ll be less likely to shove your face. I try to do this, but sometimes I still find myself mindlessly putting food in my mouth. Ugh.

.

That’s enough about me, how are YOU doing with your goals?

TGIF and have a great weekend!

Round four of challenge updates, and almost through with the first month of 2010. How am I doing so far? You be the judge…

NEW YEAR CHALLENGES

New Year 100 Mile Running Challenge
-Only three days left, and 18.86 miles to go. I can still rock this b*tch, but it does kind of suck that I’ve let it get down to the wire like this. I honestly though I’d be closer to being done, if not already done, by now.

New Year 500 Mile Biking Challenge
-I’ve already accepted the fact that I am not going to get to 500 miles w/ this challenge, but I want to at least get 100 miles under my belt. I am currently at 92.9 miles, so I have 7.1 miles left.

This is going to be a cardio loaded weekend, it looks like

PERFECT 10 CHALLENGE

And here is my Perfect 10 update for the week:

Lose at least 15 pounds (starting weight 245 pounds)–7.6 pounds down, 7.4 pounds to go. This past weeks weigh in was less than spectacular, but I still lost. I’m hoping for a few good weeks to come up though.

Run/walk/jog 200 miles–81.14 miles down, and I plan to be halfway done (100 miles) by the end of weekend. My spiffy new runinng shoes will certainly help w/ this goal. WooT!

Strength train at least twice a week–Uhh…success, actually! WOOHOO! I did strength training in the gym on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and I did a little bit at home this morning w/ my dumbbells. It’s a start…

Run a 5k road race–No change here, 5k is done, still getting ready for The Bear Run 4-Miler.

Finish at least one of this semesters college courses–Not yet, but working on it. School sucks, bla bla bla…

Beat Super Mario Brothers Wii–Halfway through World 6, F*CK YEAH! Made a goal for myself to be in World 7 by Tuesday. I’m sure I’ll be able to get some play time in, so we’ll see.

Steve is also asking we post something that noone knows about us, so here goes: I hate bananas. I think the texture, the taste, and the smell are amongst the most disgusting things in existence. Anything banana flavored as well is a no go. I can usually fair a bit better w/ flavored things (I don’t like strawberrys for example, but I like strawberry flavored stuff), but anything and everything banana is just gross.

HABIT.A.WEEK CHALLENGE

Lyn from Escape from Obesity is hosting a Habit.A.Week Challenge. The goal is easy enough, to make a small change each work in order to live a healthier lifestyle. The “habit” however, was two fold, it was the increase your fiber intake, BUT, if you already eat enough fiber, to eat it from real food (as in fruits, veggies, beans, etc…not fiber one bars, yogurt, etc..)

Umm…yeah. I always try to get the full daily value of fiber in, sure, but most of my fiber comes from Fiber One cereal. One cup of that and you are good to go. I have certainly upped the veggie intake and all, but not enough to ensure enough fiber, so I rely on the cereal. This one needs some work.

That’s all I have for now. I am looking forward to finalizing the January New Year Challenges this weekend, and then moving forward into February. What’s next, you ask? Stay tuned…

TGIF and have a great weekend!
