I’ve sort of lost track of what week I’m on, so I think from here on out I’m going to label the Status Reports by date.  Cool?  Cool. :)

Progress Report: July 6th, 2010
Weight: 254.8lbs
BMI: 37.1
Weight loss so far: 10.2 lbs lost total

So there it is.  I knew it was going to be bad, and I won’t express shock as to how bad it is, because it could have been worse.  Thankfully I didn’t manage to get back up into the 260s…but the 250s is still pretty bad.  But I have resolved to fix it, so I will, so booyah!

In other news, the fact that I am running a marathon in October hasn’t completely escaped my mind, and while I’ve done some running, I have been in almost no way, shape or form actually training for this thing (boo!).  Thankfully that will be changing though.  David H. from Running Because I Can (who you might remember from his guest post) has helped me out and provided me a little training routine to get me started:

  • Week 1: 3-3-2-8 for 16 total miles
  • Week 2: 3-3-2-9 for 17 miles
  • Week 3: 3-3-3-10 for 19 miles
  • Week 4: 3-3-3-11 for 20 miles
  • Week 5: 3-3-4-6 for 16 miles
  • Week 6: 3-3-4-12 for 22 miles
  • Week 7: 3-4-4-14 for 25 miles

I kicked off Week 1 yesterday with a 3.7 mile run (yeah, I went a little over, but that is my usual neighborhood run).  With whats laid out right there that will get me near the end of August, which is a great start.

On top of that, I really want to put a little more effort into the whole strength training thing, which I have been very much half assing since the beginning.  I think I am going to go about this by doing some weights in the gym, but also maybe a bit of P90X.  I’ve owned the program for almost a year now, but when I first bought it I could barely do any of the workouts, so it was shelved after about a week, and since then I have loaned it out to a friend.  I do however, still have the P90X+ dvds, which is a more intense version of the already intense original program.  I popped in the Total Body Plus DVD last night and I think its safe to say my ass was officially kicked.  Granted, I couldn’t do ALL of the exercises, but I did what I could and I think I did alright, and I made it through the full 45 minutes in one piece.  So I may play around with those DVDs a bit, and then in time maybe attempt the actual full P90X program again.  We’ll see how that goes :)

AND ON TOP OF THAT…I am back to work from my vacation, and I need to pull in some major overtime to make up for the crazy spending I did on vacation, and a new school semester starts this month.  I won’t stress though (too much), but I think this month is going to be a GREAT exercise in time management.

That’s all I got for now.  How was everyones holiday weekend?  Anything fun and exciting going down?

Jun 082010

So Tuesdays are generally Status Report days, but for the next couple weeks they are on hold.

I wish I could say something insightful like I’m not weighing myself because I don’t want to be controlled by a number.  While that is true to an extent, it’s really only because I’m housesitting for my aunt for the next couple weeks, so I am without scale access.  Insightfulness FAIL :-P

I still plan on losing weight though!  This isn’t an excuse to go all crazy with the food again.  So the next scale reading will be on the 22nd, so we’ll see how that goes.

I have my fitness goals though, but unfortunately I didn’t too well with them last week.

  • Run/walk (but mostly run) 20 miles this week.  FAIL! Only 10.7 miles completed.
  • Bike 30 miles. FAIL! 15.21 miles completed.
  • At least three strength training workouts. FAIL! None whatsoever.
  •

I don’t want to say it was all laziness, because I was actually kind of busy this past week.  I’ve been trying to get overtime in for my trip coming up, and I have schoolwork.  So while that kept me busy somewhat, there was still some laziness involved.  Boo!

It’s going to be more of the same work and school stuff this week, but I still want to push for some fitness goals.

    • Run/walk 20 miles. There are alot of suburban neighborhoods in this area, which I think would be good to run in.
    • Three strength training workouts. My aunt and uncle have a weight set, which means I have no excuse :-P

So there’s that.  Gotta let the dogs out now :-P

Have a great day, everyone! :)

    Progress Report: Week 34
    Weight: 248.0lbs
    BMI: 36.1
Weight loss so far: 17 lbs lost total

I said it before, and I’ll say it again: May sucked!

Now, granted, there was a lot of good.  I had a pretty awesome birthday, I ran my first half marathon and I had a pretty awesome Memorial Day weekend in Cleveland and Put-In-Bay, OH.

    But everything else?  Yeah…

I was completely thrown off kilter by becoming a full time teleworker, and everything kind of went to crap.  The workouts became sporadic and the diet sucked.  Basically everything I could do wrong, I did, and I in one month I completely undid all of the progress (weight related, anyway) made all year.  Granted, I did a bit of damage control following the half, but it wasn’t what it really needed to be.

So yeah, all in all…May was a big ol’ FAIL!

Luckily, it’s not May anymore.  Today is a new month, and I’d like to give myself one (final) fresh start.

For accountabilities sake, I’m setting up some fitness goals for myself for the week.

    • Run/walk (but mostly run) 20 miles this week.
    • Bike 30 miles.
    • At least three strength training workouts.

Diet wise, I think a HUGE reason behind my gain was the constant ordering out while I’m at home working.  If it wasn’t ordering delivery, I’d run to the grocery store or to a fast food place and load up.  I ate with reckless abandon.  So I’m resolving to, well, not do that anymore.  While I’m working during the week there will be no fast food, no delivery, no carry-out, none of that crap.  I will eat what I have at the apartment and be more careful about what I eat, and I will make sure I’m stocked with healthy choices.  I’d like to resolve to cook more dinner too, because I don’t think I did that at all during the month of May (or probably a huge part of April, for that matter).

I’m also going to have another fitness challenge this month, probably in the next week or so.  I leave for vacation on the 24th, so I’d like it squared away by then.

Okay, so, uh, that’s it…for now.  Did you have a good weekend?

Have a great day, everyone! :)
